Default Need input!

I just traded my Porsche 944 for a 1996 Discovery (4 dr). I was planning on just selling the L.R. but after driving it I find that I REALLY enjoy driving it. My wife is an artist and likes to get out on the logging and primitive roads so she even likes it. I've heard good and bad things about maintenance and cost of parts and reliability. I got rid of the Porsche because maintenance (hard to work on and pricey parts, wife hated it) and don't want to go there again. The Rover has 165 K but looks brand new, runs great however I hear a bit of possibly rear end or gear noise softly when driving under about 35 mph. Is this common? I would appreciate your input. We live in Port Townsend, Wa.

Welcome to the forum. As far as maintenance they are not bad, parts are what you would expect for an import. The labor is pretty straight forward and easy from what I have experienced. There are some very knowledgeable people on this board.

Read through the stickies at the top of the Discovery section and it will give you a pretty
good idea where to go for parts and what you might want to use for quality parts.

Also you will want a copy of the RAVE, it is the dealers manual that has been converted to a PDF format. The link for a RAVE download is at the bottom of this post in my signature.

You want input, then post in the Discovery section, not the intro section where it says "NO" questions in this section.
