Having driven a Freelander 1 V6 (best terrible car I've had) and a FL2 (not too many issues, loved and still have it), I decided to buy my neighbour's Disco 1. It's a 98 2.5 TDi and it's been quite well maintained. He's had it for over ten years and it's got 211.000 miles on the clock but runs like a champ, no visible leaks and apart from a couple minor electrical glitches (blinkers won't switch of when you turn the wheel, mirrors don't always work...) there seems to be nothing visibly wrong with it.

Downside: I live in Brazil and although parts are not in short supply (Defenders were quite popular down here), not too many mechanics are willing to work on this model. I don't drive too far (about 5mi/day) and I don't mind not having her for a few days if she's down to maintenance. Now, the thing is that she'll probably be my daily driver, and I really want her to last for another 200k miles, so I'd better come up with a very decent maintenance schedule, and any tips are very welcome!
