Default New Disco II Owner

Just bought a 2003 Disco II SE with 88,000 miles. Upon first inspection I noticed the torque converter (bell housing) inspection port cover was missing. Used a Kerr canning lid and 3 stainless bolts to fix it. Not Land Rover approved, but worked!

Good deal. While under there check for grease fittings on the double end of the front drive shaft. If none, it would be an oem one, subject to snap without warning and beats hole in transmission. Rebuild article in our tech area.

Also - that temp gauge can't be trusted, any thing above 50% is overheating. It will point at 50% from about 130 - 240 F.

Shop manual set is called the RAVE, free download links below.

And welcome!

Is the problem with the gauge or with the sensor? I have a scangauge hooked up and was using that as a back up. Is that adequate, or should i try to add an external gauge?
