Hello all

Name is Wade, I own a Ferrari service and restoration shop in Mooresville Nc. and just purchased a 2003 Land Rover Disco which the more I drive it the more I like it.

Took it in as a trade and it needs a little TLC

Hoping to drive it for a long time has 116k on the clock and is a S burgundy in color with tan int. It does fall in the range of the dreaded oil pump failure VIN's but with its current mileage it must have skated by

Welcome. The shop manual set for the vehicle is part of the RAVE, link below for free download, includes electrical, shop, overhaul, and owner's manuals. Consider that the temp gauge is electronically programmed by the ECU to indicate half scale under most conditions, pop in your code scanner and you'll get a more accurate idea of cooling system. Check out our tech section for rebuild info on the front prop shaft, stock ones don't have enough grease fittings, will snap with no warning, punch hole in transmission. Also a 60K miles service item list that needs to worked thru. You will probably notice the lack of an oil PSI gauge, it was actually an option in the very early Rovers (like the 50's). You may want to add one or at least run a check on it. An OEM thermostat has come to attention lately that subs for the present one, operates at 82 degrees C with a "soft spring", runs truck about 10 degrees cooler.

By now you have already noticed that this was built for balance while bouncing on the trail up the Blue Ridge, not the speedway. It's not a 308 Quattrovalvole. But great fun in another direction.
