Newbie looking to buy a Disco 1 - Need Feedback

Hey everyone, new here. I've been wanting an older 4x4 (would have to fix this issue) that I can tinker with and have some fun driving. Would not be a daily driver. I've got a decent set up for working on it, no lift or heavy duty stuff, and $1800 isnt a big deal. I've browsed the forum a bit over the weekend looking for common issues with these.
Any insight/links into how extensive repairing the 4x4 would be?

You may get better response asking technical questions in the D1/D2 subforum.
Im not sure if they mean by disabling the 4x4 that they disconnected a driveshaft or if they did something else. The driving “quirk” also sounds suspicious.
