Hey all...just got my 2000 Disc II a couple days ago. Traded a 2000 F250 Super Duty straight up for it. Best deal I have ever made I am loving it. The only issues apparent right is that it has a cracked front bumper, needs a tune up (still runs great just needs TLC) and a new head liner in the cab. The head liner I can get done at a few places here in Houston, but I can not find a decent after market site or place to go for a bumper. Any suggestions? IF not here no problem will start surfing the forums to see what's out there. Just wanted to touch base and say hi!

Whoa - any new Disco 2 south of FM1960 needs to be checked for front prop shaft being greasable. Bumper looks good, but a bad prop shaft can split and poke a hole in the tranny that will make your day. See the tech section of the D1 part of the formum under prop shaft rebuild. Also check out the 60 K high miles service list. Don't believe the temp gauge, verify with a data scanner or an ultra gauge. Download the full set of shop and owners manuals, called the RAVE, for free. Post early and often in the D2 part of the forum, and bet you woun't see much change in mpg (having a 93 F250 that I recently disposed of)....

Oh, and welcome!

Just pointing out the local byway. Lived there in the 80's. The stock front shaft does not have grease fittings on all the joints, so it fails, and then the owner wails, because it kills the tranny in most cases. In an instant. See Propshaft Rebuild - Land Rover Forums - Land Rover Enthusiast Forum
