Default Anyone help with a Skylark? Power Steering question.

I have a 1981 Buick Skylark, it has 8.6MM wires on it, one on each of it's 4 cylinders.
Anyways, I believe it has a Rack and Pinion steering, it works less than it does not. Question is, do these type need to be bled if the lines empty?

Well, technically you bleed them when the lines are full....

Generally, jack the front tires off the ground and with the engine running and the reservoir full, turn the steering wheel full left, then full right. Repeat until the fluid stays at the desired level and the pump cavitation noise goes away. Do NOT hold the steering at full left or right for more than a split second. Pump goes into bypass which is not good on those pumps except for short instances. When turning from full left to full right and back again, go slowly...it is not a race.

Now these instructions are just off the top of my head, and your vehicle may have different requirements. But they generally hold true for whatever you are driving.

you don't have to jack the car up.

That's probably true, I only threw that in there because some manufacturers list it as a step to keep the pressures low in the unit during the bleed process. May not be necessary for your Buick. If you start and get lots of cavitation noise, I'd jack the front end up.
