Default Head gasket kit prices!

I thought we were getting a freaking steal on these $98 head gasket kits from Lucky 8, but then I got this 86 Dodge and come to find out I can get a full rebuild kit including rings, main and rod bearings, and all new gaskets for $105! I just ordered a head gasket kit for it for $40!

Granted, $98 is a stellar deal for a Rover V8 (thank you L8, genuinely), but I sure would love to be at those small block chrystler prices instead. And to think, small block Chevy prices are even cheaper.

Anyway, just wanted to convey my amazement. Makes an engine swap look nicer all the time. Mopar powered Disco could be cool.

Hi Alex, the problem is everything for the LR or D2 is imported whereas the Dodge parts are manufactured in the US, plus LR tear the backside out of anything original equipment, their prices are mental.

Yes, being a new used Jeep owner has done three things for me, no sticker shock on parts, parts availability is phenomenal and it's just absolutely dead reliable so I don't have to buy parts. I bought a new fuel pump when I first brought it home, $86 Airtex unit complete, with housing. Electric cooling fan $82 with mounting frame that bolted right in. If you can find a Jeep SRT motor grab it.

A bit off topic but... I went to our local 4 Wheel Parts store to see what Jeep parts they had that could be used for my Disco.
The guy working the counter asked what year was my Jeep and I told him I have a 2001 Land Rover Discovery. He immediately stopped typing on the keyboard, took off his glasses and said “Dude! You must really be made of money to own one of those!”
