I'll be 31 Friday. Fell in love with the disco when my rich high school best friend had a brand new D2. Then in the military I was deployed with a NATO unit in Afghanistan under British leadership and we drove up armored rovers through hell and back. Got a D2 when I came home, love it even though it hates my wallet.

I'm 17, I think I'm the youngest on the forums. I moved in with my aunt and uncle to help them renovate a house and after the renovation we moved in. He had a Toyota 4-runner and a Hyundai Elantra from work so he bought the rover to use as a pack horse. I bought it from him a few months later since I didn't have a car (my Acura Integra was in Texas) and he wanted $2k. Next thing I know I'm doing all sorts of repairs and stuff and watching Camel Trophy videos. Best thing ever.

My first car was a 1964 Pontiac LeMans with an aluminum 326 4 barrel. Same body as the original GTO. First year for the big body Lemans. I paid 600 bucks cash for it in 1970. I was 19 with a pregnant 17 year old wife. Both are long gone now.

I drove a lot of different vehicles oer the years, including a 1972 Gran Torino, 1996 Bronco 351, 1978 Dodge RamCharger Big Foot version, 1978 280ZX2+2 when my two sons were small. A Volvo 240 DL replaced the Z. A MB420SEL replaced the Volvo and added a 1986.5 Porsche 928S. I miss every one of those.

But my 1997 MEANDEROVER keeps getting better and better every time I fix something on it. I am scared now. To buy anything else will require a lottery hit or a rich young girlfriend.

I'm 43 years old, my first car was a 1978 flat nose Ford Escort mk 2 rally prepaired with a BDA engine. Being in the military with over seas duty I could not take may car with me so sold it. On leaving I got into Land rovers my first being a 1969 series 2a. Sine that one I think that I have had some thing like 30 land rovers, including series 1's, 2's, 2a, 3's 2 door and 4 door classic range rovers, 200tdi and 300 tdi discoveries 90 and probably my best land rover a genuine Camel Trophy 110 that was used as a scout vehicle on the 1991 tanzania and burundi and the 1992 Guyana camel trophey (see my pictures). Unfortunatly divorce forced me to sell it and its the only vehicle that I would ever buy back. Now being in the US I drive 2003 discovery 2.

I'm not an official owner yet but I enjoy reading on this forum. I'm 38, my first car was a old beetle for $100 before I was old enough to drive, an isuzu impulse, 80 model 4wd toyota pickup, new 97 jeep cherokee, 84 toyoto pickup (one of my favorites) vw baja in show condition, 01 miata (another favorite) fiat spider, alfa spider, pontiac sunfire, dodge ram, caliber (hated it), kia sorento is now my wifes car, oh and the worst of all a 323 as a school car, lol. after test driving this disco I can see the love affair people have with them

I’ll be 70 on my next birthday. When I retired and found that I needed a vehicle to get me to the trout stream, the ski hill and other places that the ground-clearance of my Mercedes wouldn’t allow, a Disco II seemed like just the ticket. I found a nicely kept 2000, with 92,000 on the clock, and picked it up a couple of months ago. I added a CDL linkage last weekend and am so far having more fun with a wrench than with a fly rod, but I’ll get to that eventually.

Great topic! I'm just shy of the big four-oh, and have been driving and wrenching on British cars (Triumphs mostly) all my life. I'm an airline pilot now, but used to fly freighters into and out of Africa. Well, Land Rover absolutely RULES Africa. They are everywhere! After seeing the police force in Accra, Ghana patrolling in long wheel base Defenders I knew I had to have one. I came home from a trip, promptly sold my Subaru Legacy Outback (a very nice car by the way), bought my '01 Discovery II and have never looked back. It's been a great truck for us. It easily transitions from soccer mom duty to backcountry explorer to boat hauler and back again. It's hauled my vintage race car to track when my Chevy pickup was down, and it delivered my kids' classmates home when a freak snowstorm shut the town down. My wife is pushing hard for a new LR4, but the Disco is damn near a member of the family. I don't think I could let it go. I will probably hang on to it and pass it off to my son when he turns 16. One thing is for sure; I will always have a Rover in my garage!

Howdy ya'll..
I'm 37
I'm currently nursing a neglected 96 disco back to health..
It came from San Diego.. so it's rust free!! But! It's first Indiana winter is coming fast..
Other than its looks... It's leaks almost every fluid.. slight knock on start-up..
And as of today the viscous clutch decided it was quitting time..
So I'm in the market for one if anyone near Indy wants to part with one..
