Default I wonder what this would run like

Just for conversation. Say you didn't have a strict budget, I wonder what it would be like if you swapped this in place of the factory induction...

Finally toss in a high quality MSD distributor/ignition. I wonder if it would run better? Worse? Same?

The stand alone system would practically bolt it. It needs a coolant temp sensor and an o2. Which we all have. We could even use the same fuel system. I wonder if the added simplicity would be worth it. EFI kit is stupid expensive. My truck actually isn't all that hard to work on. But just curious.

why even run the efi, put a carb on. With a 1-wire alt, and 1-wire GM distrutor. Every ecu in the truck could burn up and it would still run.

True. But the efficiency and cold start abilities of EFI keep me away from carbs. Plus I've always had issue w the float bowls at extreme angles. Stalling on a steep incline is no fun.

You could probably cut the injection costs down by using a old gm tbi setup. There are a few companies out there that do them and will custom map it for your engine

IMO I'd stick with EFI but that's just me. The manifold looks like the type to accept a Holley multichoke carb. I've used twin horizontal Webber carbs many times years ago and what a pig they were to fire up from cold. I'd even use soft plugs to start and run for 5 minutes then switch to harder plugs. Never again!
