Electrical problems in 2007 Sport HSE, horn and steering wheel related
Hello, I am searching for what might be causing my horn and lights on the lighted buttons on my steering wheel to cut in and out.
The horn sometimes works and some times doesnt.
The lighted buttons on the steering wheel will flicker or go out when I am steering (at night is when I notice it because they illuminate when the head lights are on).
The horn 'connection' seems to be related to the flickering lights too.
The buttons seem to work even when the lights are not on (volume, cruise ctrl etc) Just not the horn.
I do not observe any other problems at the moment.
Thoughts?
Is there a connection somewhere I can check?
Thanks

In vehicles that have items on the steering wheel the electrical connections have to pass through a rotary coupler of some type. The Range Rover has modules inside the steering wheel, plus multiple electrical connections through the coupler. More gizmos = more service work for more advanced technicians. Here some typical info from slightly earlier models, which were even simpler... before ECU for heated steering wheel, and other "can't live without it" features.
Of course, not having a horn is quite a safety issue, could be a deer, a child, a driving while texting dofus, etc. that might suddenly appear in your path.
