Default 2006 RR Supercharged - oversized oil drain plug?

Hi Everyone,

I don't have to change the oil in my rover but once a year as it's just my winter car. I took it to the stealership to get an oil change as I like them to do the inspection as well just for peace of mind. It's a 2006 RR Supercharged with about 148k miles on it.

When they changed the oil they indicated the drain hole on the pan was essentially shot and no idea how long it would last. Sure enough today there's a puddle of oil under the car.

I'm reading up about ovesized drain plugs which might help prevent leakage. Does anyone know the correct Dorman part number for an oversized drain plug for an 06 Range Rover Supercharged? I heard replacing the pan involves lifting the motor, so no way am I investing any more money into the vehicle.

Any thoughts?

I'm fairly certain I'm screwed. I took the old drain plug out and it was already on oversized plug - and I think it's the "over oversized" dorman one. The one I bought was too small. I"m buying the over oversized one to compare.

This super pisses me off because the dealership has been charging me for drain plugs for years and obviously have not been replacing them as I highly doubt they would put in a dorman oversized plug into the car. They likely realized a regular plug wouldn't fit and just kept reusing the same one without telling me. I wonder if this could have caused the issue with the drain plug hole eventually stripping?

We have used oversized plugs in the past and they work great. However, in your case, it sounds like you may need a Timesert. This is a threaded sleeve you can install which will give you new threads (and because it is steel, will last much longer).

This is a fit for an LR3, but can you get something like this installed?
