I know, I know... not another oil/fluid question! haha But, I get nervy with ATF compatibility. Valvoline states the MaxLife ATF, and the Import MV ATF are compatible with Shell M1375.4, but has anybody actually used it/had any issues doing so?

I have not tried that but I did check with royal purple and they said their ATF is good to go for the ZF trans

 

I saw that too. Maxlife basically states the same thing, specifically noting compatibility with Shell M1375.4. But, some people over at Bob the Oil Guy seem to say there are heat packets and what not missing.

The Valve Body Sleeve on my '08 L322 is leaking, and the thought of spending $160 in ZF Fluid to swap a $20 part is killing me. The truck has 116k on the clock, which is apparently on borrowed time for valve body/solenoid issues etc for the zf6, so if forking out the doe for the lifegaurd 6 fluid is the right play, it is what it is. But, if MaxLife truly isn't going to cause issues, all the better!

 

I'm going to use either Royal purple or amsoil when I do the LR3 trans. I have always had great success with Royal purple and a couple well respected shops in the community have had fantastic luck with amsoil
