Default 2017 td6 - heavy diesel smell in cabin when heat/ventilation is turned on

Been having this issue for some time. Whenever the heat/air is turned on there is a heavy diesel smell in the cabin. Recently the dpf filter was replaced a couple of months ago aswell as the diesel fuel filter. Took it to a local mechanic but he couldn’t find any issues. Car still has exhaust/emissions warranty but I’m not sure it would cover this issue. Any suggestions would be appreciated on how to fix this issue.

Call an authorized LR dealer and ask them if this would be covered under emissions warranty. Did they use OEM fuel filter and DPF filter when they got replaced? Sounds like this has something to do with your issue.

issue was happening prior to dpf and fuel filter getting replaced. Dpf was replaced by dealer but diesel fuel filter is aftermarket. Dealer told me they have to diagnose it just to see if it’s covered by warranty which I’ll have to pay out of pocket for.

If it turns out to be a warranty item, you will not have to pay the diag fee. Still an annoyance but worth it in my opinion just to find out what is causing your issue. Good luck.
