Default L405 Stuck in Park

Sorry if this is posted elsewhere. 2016.5 HSE Diesel. Selector comes up, but will not turn when brake is applied. I do not hear any click, like one that would release the ****, and I cant recall if it ever did that.

I tried parking brake, on off, restarted a few times, and I do have a CEL because I swapped my brake pads and had a wear sensor that I have not replaced yet, but that has been going on for a few months without issue.

Drive car a short distance a few times this morning and now its stuck.......I also typically shut car off without putting in Park, so maybe my fault for doing that. Any suggestions please.

Try and disconnect the battery and wait 10 min or so. The system should reset. Worth a try!

I replaced the Transmission Control Switch (TCS), Fixed the problem. For whatever it's worth, here is what the inside looks like. I have not tested the solenoid, but I suspect there is a failure in either the windings, or the board itself. I will test further, but as you can see from the locking pin, it can be bypassed to allow the shifter to turn, in case anyone wants to just do that.

Also, it does click when you press the brake, so no click, locked in park.

Where did you find the transmission control switch? How much was it? How easy was it to replace?

I don't think the TSB will help. The solenoid is usually dead. I saved my old shifter to see if I can either create a work around for emergency rotation, or replace the motor in shifter to make it work again. $350 each time is not what I'd call fun, but that is how JLR makes their money.

I saw a few hacks to at least get it into or out of each gear.

It is in Russian but the tutorial is straight forward
For anyone needing this help
