Changing Coolant
Hi everyone!
I recently bought a 1998 P38 (SE 4.0) as my first car as I have been wanting to get into cars for a long time and finally have the ability to. I've always been a fan of Land Rover as my older sister had a Disco 2 when I was a kid and thought why not as the car was a good deal. The vehicle itself needs a LOT of work, but for the most part, everything is well under the hood (replaced head gasket, new water pump, ect.). As far as routine maintenance goes, I have changed the spark plugs and connection wires and now I need to change the coolant. Does anyone have any tips for how to do so? Any recommendations for coolant type? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Unless it's been done recently, I would replace the thermostat and hoses while you're at it.
There's been a lot of discussion about what type of anti-freeze to use. I think the 2 main options are orange (dexcool eg), or green. I have orange in my P38 now, but will be switching to green next time I change it. My D2 has green. Prestone or any good brand will do.

Thank you!
You have an aluminium block with a plastic radiator, no rust. If you sense you have a flow issue just run a garden hose into it till things come out clear.
Otherwise if there is gunk, that would be coagulated Dexcool, which reacts negatively to the presence of air. You will want to get that out of there...
That's why many people switch to green coolant, works better in a system prone to get air in it.
