Default InControl App Expired

Hi all - did a search but didn't find any posts about this. 2017 RR Sport. I keep getting emails that my "InControl" subscription has expired. They want $120 for 12 months - and these are the benefits of having this subscription:Now your subscription has expired, you no longer have access to:
  • SOS Emergency Call, initiating a call to contact emergency services through both a manual voice call and automatically through a trigger.
  • The Range Rover Remote App which lets you prepare for a trip by checking fuel levels or range remotely.
  • Optimised Range Rover Assistance which uses GPS and vehicle health information to minimise any delay in getting you back on the road
MY QUESTION: is this really necessary? I use the InControl app for auto start, etc. but wondering if others here have let their subscription expire? How important are these features? Not to mention, my SOS Emergency Call module / part needs to be replaced before it could work anyway. The part that was out of stock and 9-12 months leadtime during covid, and I never bothered to check if it came in.

THANKS! Hope to hear from some of you.

I did and am following. I guess just aggravated because of the method Land Rover chose to do remote start, is over the internet instead of using the key fob, that we have to pay this much to use it for as long as we own the car.

I’m wondering the same. I have no desire to renew the subscription if these are the only things it affect.

Also noticed I can’t connect to Apple play unless I’m connected to the my Land Rover WiFi, which has a horrible signal. Really annoying when the map won’t update and then I have to unplug the whole thing and use my phone to navigate. Would be ticked off if I renew and the signal is bad.

I ended up renewing - SOLELY for the remote start (live in the Northeast, winters are brutal) and it sucks that we have no other option. I suppose one might consider an after market remote start, but I don't want to start screwing around with that.... Really unfortunate we pay all this money for these nice cars and get DINGED on an ANNUAL basis just to warm up your car.

Not to mention, the seat heaters have to manually be turned on - and won't turn on with the remote start, even if you go out when the remote start "remote climate" is running, you cannot manually turn on the seat heaters until you start up the car (w/out remote climate).

It is not just the incontrol system that we have to pay for on a subscription basis. Even to keep the learning sat nav running there's a subscription required that ought to be standard.
