Use Android phone as Internet connection..
Hello, I did a search but couldn't find quite what I was looking for so here I am.
Have a 2019 Velar with the InControl Touch Pro system. All the software is up to date as far as I can tell. Connecting via Bluetooth and streaming Pandora or taking phone calls works fine. My Internet provided by the AT&T sim has long since expired and I don't care to renew it. What I would like to be able to do is access the internet connection through Bluetooth/Wifi/HotSpot/Tethering ETC. for various things. Note from google support "Most Android phones can share mobile data by Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or USB." So it is possible, In theory.
Here is a nice link on it - https://support.google.com/android/a...r-by-bluetooth
Anyone have any experience with setting this up? I have exhausted google and found several ways that are supposed to work but none of them do.
I have a Google Pixel 6 with Android 16 "Baklava" if it helps.
Any ideas?
Thanks Eldon

Well it's been a while. Can not believe I did not get at least one reply/ acknowledgement.
Oh well sharing what I found just so it's out there.....
On your Android, Go into Settings, then Network & Internet, click on Hotspot & Tethering.
Now click on Wi-Fi hotspot
OPTIONAL: I decided to update the hotspot name to easily identify my phone. Just click on Hotspot name and type new name if you like, and then click ok
Security is set to WPA2-Personal, Left this alone.
OPTIONAL: I then decided to change the password just so everything was Fresh. Click on Hotspot password and type your new password, and then ick click ok
Go back up to the top and change Turn Use Wi-Fi hotspot on.
Go to RR turn on so your infotainment system powers on.
Sorry I have the InControl system but they should be generally the same, so this part is a little vague.
Go into Settings, then Connectivity, then Wi-Fi
Look for the network name from your Phone and select it.
Now enter the password you setup for the hotspot on your phone.
Should Connect after that. = Connected
Don't know why I wanted to do this as there are not that many options that use the internet.
Guess if you get bored you can always check for system updates out in the middle of nowhere.
Normally just connect to my home Wi-Fi while I'm in the garage to do that.
Hope that helps someone....
Thanks
