If all you need is the fan clutch, you can get that today at most auto parts stores - it fits a 2000 Chevy Express cargo van with the 4.3L V6 NO a/c. About $50. Write up on it in the technical area for the D1 part of the forum.

If you need a whole fan and clutch, dismantler or salvage yard would be a choice.

If you are tight for time, About $20 at salvage yard will get you a clutch and fan from a 98 - 2001 or so Chevy truck or Tahoe. It is a 6 inch, reverse rotation clutch that fits on the same water pump nut used on the Rover. Your neighbor will have to take a pair of snips or big scissors are CAREFULLY cut off just a little bit from each blade. A couple of examples are shown in the pictures.

Or you can remove radiator shroud and run fan as is, check clearances before shutting hood...., just won't do as well on really hot day, but should be OK this time of year. Being stuck away from normal support is tough, and these are intended as work arounds if what you want is not available or you don't have time to wait on factory parts.

What fan do you need?
Cooling system?
A/C?
Heater blower?
Someone following you on Twitter?

Tom, OP also posted earlier about fan issues with a neighbor assiting. I replied to that while this new one was popping up. Just wanted to be sure both were seen by OP.

The fan that is in the very front of the truck that cools the radiator..is the one thats slow..though in the summer months..my a/ c does act weird..my coolant is fine,it doesnt smell like gasoline, which is what my neighbor tyrone says is a very bad indicator if it did...

But new recurring issue !!(and im sorry i keep repeating myself..its hard with a smart phone and not having a computer..which i would be copy and pasting previous posts)! My antilock light is coming onagain!!! and speedometer is acting up again as it did when my alternater went bad...im gnna check the connections and reroute the belt,as it should be..probably a bad store bought alternater??? Or bad connection??I have seen that this truck lets u know even the littlest things...

how can we see if the alternator isnt properly set up?? Ive been driving very short distances daily for 2 weeks since new alternator...and im getting the exact signs when my alternator went bad last month... Anti lock goes on,speedometer goes wacky.....

Basically what im aSking is...what does wacky speedometer and antilock light together signafy??

There are two fans. One is on the front of the engine, is turned by the fan belt, and blows air all the time the engine is running. It cools the radiator and the engine. You can't see it from the front of the truck. There are smaller electric fans (no belts) that are just behind the grille. The job is to come on and cool the air conditioner condenser (a radiator for the AC system). So if AC is switch on, with inside the truck fan running, these electric fans run as well. If they don't, then your AC will not work well, and truck may try to overheat in slow traffic or stopped with AC on.

Important point - when cranked up first thing in the morning, main radiator fan draws a little more air, and enough will flow to slowly spin those electric fans, even though they are not on. So if you see them turning slowly, and they don't make a noise, probably bad fans, or electrical problem.

You should be able to test those fans by turning key to "on" but not cranking truck, then turn on AC and fan inside truck to any speed. Outside in front of the truck you should hear noise and see electric fans going fast.
