Inspired by the Mantec load lugga but completely unwilling to shell out £150 plus overseas shipping, I finally got around to building and installing this. Came out to around $50 and a few hours of labor. Could've spent a few more making it look less janky but doesn't bother me a bit. If I had to do it again I'd go for some square stock instead of L to stiffen it up, but so far so good.

Clean the rust first as good as possible. Wire brush or circular metal brush attached to grinder. Then clean up with alcohol or some sort. Apply Krud Kutter rust converter, wait till rust comes off. Spray rustoleum (black) rust reformer then spray with flat black. Or you can under coat with rubberized undercoating paint. Do it when humidity is less. In NJ weather and salt during winter, very very few visible rust showed after 4.5 and 1.5 years ago when I did my other discos. Those spots were probably spots where I rushed off.

Road trip from Logan Utah to the Green River Lakes in Wyoming. Lots of dirt roads and beautiful scenery. The Disco ran great, but I've got a bunch of rattles to track down that get annoying on washboard dirt roads

Home stretch for onboard air and water

Gotta mount the heat exchanger, plumb it up, and test it out

Found a connector just hanging out under the passenger side of the dash. Any thoughts on where it may go?? Or should i say, used to go?

Used 'Awesome' 361 all purpose cleaner and degreaser, liquid orange (recommended by the guys who replaced my headliner and purchased at the dollar store) on the interior paneling last night to get rid of some tough smudges and scuffs. Cleaned all of the upholstery too. It worked wonders on interior! Dropped Bertha off at the body shop this morning for some much needed body work - wheel well corrosion and to check out rocker panels. It feels weird not having her around... one week. The body shop gave me a loaner (which was nice) but I feel like I'm driving the gutless wonder and it's supposedly a V6? (Ford Escape). Need to start poking around in the engine next. Should be interesting...

Heading north with the rover and grandsons.

We haven't had much rain this month...as you can tell by the grass...so mudding is probably out of the question. But, we'll make the best of it.

Brian.
