Gutting the air conditioning system
Sure it is. Freon is just another type of gas and it compresses up to 300 psi on the high side. If you add an oiler and filter on the suction side, and a reservoir on the pressure side, you have an air compressor. I have not done it on a LR, but it worked fine on my Chereokee back in HS.

I think electric is the way to go though in my opinion. Viair makes great cheap compressors. I have the dual 400c w/ 2 gal tank setup. Gets to 150 psi in under a minute
Anyway, looking forward to deleting two pulleys. I actually put a new bearing into my air compressor during the engine rebuild but I don't think I did it right and I also pulled all the threads out of one of the a/c bracket bolt holes, so I only have 3 bolts holding it down. All the better for a delete! I suppose if you remove all the a/c stuff behind the dash as well, could save 60-100 pounds easy all-in
got the freon drained today at a Midas for $30. The tech liked my rig. He's actually in the process of imported a Defender SVX 110... I was very jealous. He said he bought it for only 30k in Mexico.
He might want to keep his mouth shut if he is since those I think were 2009 models and not legal to import till 2034
Thanks.
The guy said something about hiring a lawyer, becoming a mexican citizen, and keeping Mexico plates.... I didn't ask any further details haha. Can't see how that would fly though! Sure, you could visit with mexican plates, but if you kept it here permanently I'm sure someone would eventually notice a shiny Defender 110. Then, off to the CBP wrecking yard
