Rplacing Fan Clutch: how to remove pressed on fan blades?
My fan clutch did not come with bolts.
Guess I'll just take it to the bolt store and see what fits.
Did yours come with just a flat washer or a flat washer and lock washer.
Can't recall many lock washers on the D2 -- the thing's been reliable for the past year or so haven't crawled around/under it lately -- so guessing flat washers only?

BTW, here's what I mean by open blades, closed/ringed blades and integrated blades+clutch assembly.
Best as I can figure, D1s, the pre-03 D2s and other earlier LR/RR models (Defender, County, etc.) all came with a separate closed blade-fan clutch setup while post-02 came with the open blade integrated fan+clutch assembly.
As my son's 04 D2 currently has the open blades, and I already have a new clutch, I am going with the open blade setup again as it appears that was what was stock. (Only non-stock thing we have on the D2 so far is the coil-to-the-front-of-engine kit, which has worked out great.)
That said, "hillbilly" logic seems to tell me the closed/ring setup is better for at least two reasons:
1. by constraining the ends of the blades with a ring, you will get less flexing of the blades themselves, which in turn seems would have two benefits: more effective air movement from a stiffer blade and less plastic fatigue at the point where the blade is molded into the fan clutch bracket; and
2. Less chance of damaging the blade when handling it: for example, my son's current integrated setup has a blade with the tip missing that got broke off a a year or two years ago when he was changing the water pump and either the 36mm wrench or the baby sledge being used to hit it slipped and chipped off part of that one blade.
Like most things, it was probably an accounting/cost decision to go to the integrated assembly as it was four fewer bolts to deal with on the assembly line.
But maybe these questions are best answered by that modern god of air management, James Dyson: does anyone know him :-)

No lock washers, it just came with bolts. From what I remember the OEM unit is metric and the aftermarket is SAE like 5/16 18 thread, but I'm not 100% sure.
I like the OEM 99-02 blade setup, but I've had great results with the Dorman 620-112 unit. The 03-04 unit is fine when it's working, but totally not worth replacing with the same thing as it's SO overpriced.
