Cabin filter will be the same part as the standard models, of course depending whether you have the ionizer or not. Engine air filter is *probably* going to be part number LR152100, which isn't the same as the other Defenders, but the same ones as the RR & RRS. Don't quote me on that, though.

I do know for a fact that the OCTA's oil filter is part number LR174141, which is shared with the 4.4 V8 RR & RRS. The parts availability/diagrams for the OCTA is incredibly limited at the moment.

I too noticed a quieter drive train after the e-diff drain and fill. Quite notable. After some digging, I've decided to hold off on the transmission drain/fill till 75k. More in line with what ZF advises or at least used to advise.

Best of luck with the spark plugs. I'll light a candle for you in advance.
I called it a double flush, but really yes I just drained everything, cleaned magnetic plugs, filled. Drove and did some figure eights, drained, new plugs and washers and new fluid and buttoned it all up.

For the record I finally found someone in the parts department to look up the OCTA part numbers - oil filter LR174141; engine air filters - LR129322; cabin air filter LR133345. Really not that easy to get the info, but all in stock. Thanks Cincy

Default Replacing the accessory drive belt

The replacement of the accessory drive belt (serpentine belt) on my P400 is a little overdue (due at 63,000miles) as I'd overlooked this item. I'm at 67,000 so no big drama.

Part of the process involves removing the viscous fan belt (LR seems to have weird names for everything) to gain access to the serpentine. I am wondering if it's normal practice to replace this belt also while I'm there and have the old one off. $35 or so.

In the use manual there is another belt listed to be replaced at 84,000 miles for the MHEV. I'm guessing it's this fan belt (also called accessory belt in the manual) so I'm inclined to do both. $70 in parts total versus $35 for just the serpentine. I don't see any other belts.

Any suggestions/info from the knowledgable folks here would be great.

Serpentine belt is 2. Viscous cooling fan belt is 1.

Default Where did you order oem parts

Where did you order the parts- from the dealer or a website. Thanks!

QUOTE=GavinC;838287]Almost 16,000 miles and just shy of 1 year old. Time for a service.

About $350 in supplies including the MityVac pump for the oil. The 8.8L nominal capacity Mityvac is plenty big. Actual capacity is larger it would seem. All parts are OEM and the oil meets the JLR specs. A simple process all told. A relaxing time in the garage.

Cabin Filter

After 1 year it was looking a bit grubby

Top: Old Bottom : New

Air Filter
The Air filter is fiddly enough. Remove 6 screws with a Torx T25 and the big hose clamp. A little wiggling to pop it off. Out with old and in with the new.

Left: New

Oil Change.

I stopped half way and poured a little oil out into a bucket just in case the 8.8L nominal capacity was too small. There was plenty of room.

Swapped out the oil filter with a new one and new gasket. 25Nm of torque. (Hand loosened and hand tightened. I will verify the torque when I get the right socket). Overall, this is the easiest oil change I've ever done. I'll be doing it this way from now on. The manual pump worked a treat.

8.8L went back in. Oil levels are correct.

10L bought - 1.2L remaining in the can = 8.8L used.

Tire Rotation
I took care of this a little while back so it is not due again.I'm getting some new tires to replace the Adventures soon anyway.

Reset the Service Interval

Bonus material
I finally finalized my caliper trim for my Tuffants. Just the last 1mm or so and a finer grit.

About 2mm of clearance between caliper and rim. Plenty of room for wheel weights. Over 1" on the rim.

Check out FCP Euro for some of this stuff. Lifetime warranty, as in buy it once and then in the future you buy it again, send back the old stuff and they refund you!

That's where i will get transmission fluid and filter pan. Best price for the ZF 8HP stuff and they have packages all set and ready to go. I'll be doing that this year sometime.

Had my first oil change on my OCTA today - 3,500mi. Had it done at the dealer so I could watch and learn. Well, oil drains through the drain plug only, not through dipstick like my p400. The underbody is pretty well protected, pretty significant work even with hylift. Oil filter is also accessed from underneath. So much for mi mitymac! Takes about ten liters of 0-30 oil. Took some effort by an experienced mechanic to get Humpty Dumpty back in one piece. Settles my desire for my backseat mechanical “I can do this myself” dreams.
