I'm sure everyone has a different opinion, but as long as I'm under warranty I'm willing to pay the dealer to do it so I have paper trails. It's helped me out a few times in life, but I mostly only buy new cars. The dealer discovers if they treat me well even after warranty I keep coming back.
I'd have to buy a lot of hardware to do it myself, as I don't have much as I relied on my father's collection, and then promptly moved away to not have access to it. I'm better with computers anyway, help competent people employed is my motto

Yeah. I know many folks feel the same way. Just seemed like a very high fee for such a simple service.
Paper trail involves keeping receipts. I guess, pictures of the process can also prove what was done, what parts used and when.
I have very little trust or faith in my local dealer.

My plan is to change the oil myself between intervals and then do the scheduled maintenance. It would be way too expensive to put the dealer to do it every 6 months, which is the interval I intend on sticking to.
Blake flush completed a little later than ideal. 23,500 miles on the clock. 21,000 is what's recommended.
The fluid was perfect looking. No discernible discoloration.
Same process as any other car. I didn't use JLR's diagnostic tool as I don't have one. Drained and filled the reservoir before cracking the bleeder valves and flushing new fluid through at about 13psi.
The sequence is shown below.
A simple task made trickier by the fact that I couldn't find an 11mm spanner so used an 11mm socket to break the seal and an adjustable wrench to control thereafter
.
Remove the covers to access the brake fluid reservoir.
I have a question about removing the engine oil. You can't get the Mityvac oil pump in the U.K. but there is an alternative that looks the same.
Where do you put the tube to extract the oil, does it go down the dipstick hole? l
wondered how you'd know the tube had gone to the bottom of the sump. lt's hard enough just to get the dipstick back in let alone an oil drain tube.

It goes down the dipstick hole. You will feel it bottom out. Also, you will know by the amount of oil you extract.
Question. Would it be bad to use your MityVac to bleed the brakes?
I can't see it being practical. There is just about 100-200ml in the brake fluid reservoir. A turkey baster is a very simple way to empty that. A few sucks and it takes just a minute or so. I'd have the tank emptied quicker than unboxing up the Mityvac.
We have 2 110 defenders, a P400 and a P525, bought from different dealerships. The one for the P400 told us the first maintenance wasn’t due until it hit 21k miles but the for the P525 said at the 16k miles mark. Are both correct?
