100k Mile Club - High Mileage Observations & Maintanance
#31
I replaced my PCV again and it actually got much worse. I'm wondering if my issue could be fuel injectors or who knows what. The first time I replaced the PCV, it was instantly fixed. But the issue is back ~14k miles later. It seems there is a newer part number than the PCV I received. I'm going to try the latest version I can find. If that doesn't work, it's onto a different brand. I've had enough.... My last three rovers have all been nightmares.

Update on misfires. PCV and spark plugs fixed it the first time (an LR mechanic recommended I change those two things). PCV made it worse this time or more than likely it was just getting worse and changing it made no difference. Next I replaced the spark plugs. The latest part number is a Bosch plug instead of NGK. New plugs made no difference - still had misfires.
Hopeful that it wasn't injectors I ordered four ignition coils. Without any codes indicating which cylinder(s) was affected, I just replaced all four. That seems to have fixed it. I haven't been able to reproduce the issue for 100 or so miles.
Average monthly maintenance cost over 15 months (excluding regular oil changes and my labor): $256.
