Yes me too. I haven't heard from my SA order was placed 7/8 and still nothing. It seams that the whole issue with semiconductor chips is messed up any even JLR don't know what they do. Some say "if you scale back on the options you can get it quicker" some don't mention it some get all their ordered stuff.
I just hope that mine will be delivered in Q1 2022 as stated on my contract.
Defender 110 SE (D250)
Clearsight
Driver assist
Terrain response 2
Trailer package

New to the forum, but not forums. Long list of over 70 cars. Current is a 21 Q7 Prestige and 20 X5 M Sport. Plan on getting a loaded Defender - have a build saved for when its time.
Just relocated to Seattle from Los Angeles. Contacted the local JLR dealer about an in stock unit and then ordering - they are marking both up 10k. After 70 cars I have never, ever paid over sticker. Regardless of the chip shortage and other supply chain (I own an international company and spouse is executive at Amazon) - I asked them about the "market adjustment."

They said they will not deal. Even tho my LA dealer is only asking sticker.

So I said I would wait a bit (my X5 only has 4500 miles) and told them I would have a conversation with JLR corporate. I once had to contact the head of Audi NA via LinkedIn to resolve a lease issue for an S8. Makes me laugh - 10k?

Anyone else pay over sticker?

Looking forward to reading the 1000s of post here in prep for my impending purchase.

What exactly do you think JLR Mahwah is going to do for you, sir?

Perhaps once they hear that you are the owner of an “international company” they will sit up and stop laughing.

^^welcome to the forum. Back in the early summer of 2020, it was hard to find dealers who were willing to sell to an out of state buyer like me and who weren’t marking up $10, 20 or $30k over sticker like the ones in Texas were. By chance I found mine, fresh off the truck at a small dealer in Maryland. Paid sticker but nothing more. Good luck and keep us posted.

Out of curiosity… was it Encino? They texted me today saying they had a 110 SE… but wouldn’t give me any details until I committed to a 10k adm.

I was mainly referring to Dealer tactics. Not just the shortage. And they way they communicated it.

This will be unpopular. It's not easy to have sympathy for dealers but they're in business to make money. They have big overhead; buildings, land, payroll, utilities, insurance, loan payments, etc. They are out of inventory and, aside from service, their cash-flow has dried up. Some will not survive or will be forced to take investors or sell cheap.

Car buyers, in the other hand, are flush with cash. Money is free these days and Defenders are in high demand. Special editions with huge markups for wraps and logos are selling before they get off the boat.

JLR (CFO Mardell) has already said the price is going to have to go up.

"Reposition the value transaction" = you paying more.

Facing all of this with a 9+ month wait-list, no idea when this will normalize, and the possibility that it could easily get much worse, what would you do if you owned the dealership? Probably mark them up $10k.

I have a friend at Hornburg...so will go thru her. Encino does not have a good rep - and its a tiny ,****ty dealer any way. LA is, I believe, the largest domestic market for LR - but it would be with 12M people. I expect to pay sticker all things considered...but not over. And while some might make light of my contacting HQ, it does work. On my Audi - it was over just a 1200 fee that was literally a mistake by the dealer. I did not care about the 1200 in the least, but it was the point of the matter that a company as large as Audi/VW did not clarify a loophole with the State of Texas.

Not only did I get it resolved via SVP of ANA i(s a much bigger deal than LR) - but they gave me a 5k credit on my next Audi purchase. I didn't even have to blast social media, YouTube, or the forums. Sometimes it helps corporate to know when a dealer is having bad tactics. It might have helped that I was an exec at a major network at the time, and my partner is an exec at Amazon. But really, that should not matter and they should treat all customers in the same fashion.

I appreciate the comments some have made about doing a locate and then ship it in from out of state. I've been successful a few times in the past that way. Luckily, I'm not in a rush. In fact, the reason its a real issue with me is I really want to do a special order. But not going to wait a year (i'm fine with that) AND pay a ridiculous markup.
