Another nugget of info I found today while building an XS. Look at the rear lights.

I am also comparing builds against the 2021, it seems like they added $900 to the base price but removed Air suspension ($1600) and Clearsight ($450) so overall $2950 change to the build for a 2022. You agree with what I am seeing here?
Yes, I agree with you.

I did a side by side comparison of standard features and the options and accessories I chose, and the only real "shortcomings" on the XS appear to be:
  • no HUD option
  • no rear recovery eyes
  • missing dual-color interior seating choices
  • no oyster morzine headlining option
  • no wood trim options
  • lighter silver bumpers and other exterior silver accents (X-D HSE accents are the darker silicon silver)
So after allowing $1570 for the HUD + wood trim it's still around $3000 more for the X-D HSE in my case.
But then it gets worse if you consider some of the other standard XS features that are $$$ options on the X-D HSE that I chose to forego like:
  • Three-zone Climate Control with Rear Cooling Assist
  • Air Quality Sensor
  • Cabin Air Ionization with PM2.5 Filter
  • there may be others
Wonder if I'm missing some huge difference that makes the X-Dynamic HSE actually worth the price discrepancy. I'm getting Santorini black so the body color difference is a moot point for me.
I honestly don't understand why they even have the XS model at all except for the full body color option, but then why is it so much cheaper?

Oh yes, and tomorrow is my final amendment date...
I'm wondering why the XS is listed higher on the build list than the HSE yet it costs $600 less base price for the P400. I'm also wondering what the XS is.

So in reality.. the upgrade to 2022 for same build to get 11.4" screen is a 3k upgrade not the $140 we thought it was.. lol.

Is there anything else new on the 2022 or are they more or less the same vehicle?

Who knows, the order guide might not be accurate and while the build tool looks up on Land Rover`s site, it isn't. I'm hoping the a-pillar wind noise is fixed.

So I ordered my Defender X with my dealer using the 2021 pricing for a 2022 and adding $140 for the bigger screen. That same build on the 2022 configurator comes out almost $4k more. Hopefully there's no issues honoring the price since I already put a deposit down.

I hope you’re right but I bet the small print says the price may change

Could be wrong, and I don't completely trust the renderings they have for builds in the configure tool, but I was basing that on the side by side gallery images (XS on the left, HSE on the right) and the fact that these standard items listed for the HSE are missing on the XS:
  • Satin Silicon Silver Front and Rear Skid Pan
  • Satin Silicon Silver Grille Bar
  • Satin Silicon Silver Badging

True, I forgot to add Clearsight mirror to the list of standard XS options that are extra $ on the X-D HSE. I almost wish they just didn't throw the XS in at all, but I think I will just check with the dealer to see what my options are.
