No air suspension or advanced off road pack? Also most of the guys here recommend the towing capability. I personally would ditch the air compressor since it likely will be 1500 dollars when its all said and done (installed).

  • There are limited tire choices for 19" wheels so most people that care about that avoid them
  • I agree that the air suspension should be considered, but few people have experience with the coils to compare
  • Some people consider the tow package because it includes the advanced off road pack, so the additional tow features are a good deal--depends if you plan to tow or not

I would also go for the larger 11.4” screen, personally. The chip delays are going to be over by the end of the year so you might wait a little bit but in the grand scheme of things it will be worth it.

the 11.4 screen is no longer an option on the p300's - which is unfortunate...totally worth the $140 usd

and I also didn't opt for the air suspension on mine and I will be towing a small boat once every 2 weeks or so. even though I've personally replaced most air suspension components on my L320 RRS (compressor, 4 struts, rebuilt 2 galleries) - I just want the simplicity of coils.

Just got update from my dealer who said my order did not have any issue and is on track.. My order is an X-Dynamic w/o smoked lights so maybe only the smoked lights models are being held at port?

That would hypothetically track with what @mcurtis137 mentioned in the V8 thread on all X and V8 orders being cancelled for 2022, could be due to the smoked lights?

Yes right now it is only the smoked lights in the recall so X and V8 models are impacted.

Yeah i was just concerned they were going to recall the non-smoked lights soon as people have been reporting that they see the same issue on non-smoked lights.

Seems like its just a matter of time.....JLR was slow to pull the trigger on recalling the smoked lights and those represent a much smaller percentage of effected vehicles...

Great build.

Perhaps it’s just me, but I’d forego the leather and get the dynamic suedecloth. Leather is very cold in winter and very hot in summer, and is only really make comfortable because of seat heating/cooling, which takes several minutes to kick in. Suedecloth is warm in winter and cool in summer. Maybe a bit harder to keep clean, but I have it in two other cars, and much prefer it for comfort to the leather I’ve had in the past.

I’d go air suspension. It is provides greater versatility.

I’d dump the headlining. In my experience, it makes the cabin feel small. And frankly, after the first few times, you’ll never notice it. As a non-functional item, I’d get rid of it and spend money elsewhere, such as air conditioned seats if you must stick with leather.

19” wheels have fewer tyre options, but the main option, Duratrac Warnglers, are great. Seriously, unless you are going to go extreme off-roading, the tyre issue is a bit of a distraction. Are you really going to go extreme rock climbing. The Defender’s on 19” wheels crossed Namibia, including Van Zyl’s pass. I think that is proof enough that for most people the 19” works fine.

I know black is popular, but it is awful to keep clean, shows scratches like nobodies business, and makes you look like a gangster (especially with black wheels and window tint). If that rocks your boat, more power to you, but I don’t like the image it conjures. I’d pick something friendlier, less aggressive and easier to maintain: white, silver, green or Gondwana Stone. You could get a black roof with a white Defender. Once you fit the wheel arches, white Defenders really look the business without making it all “mafia”. Especially if you live around snow.
