Default Apple Watch functions

I have been using the remote app on my iPhone for some time now, to lock, unlock, remote start which is invaluable here in Florida to cool the Defender down before I climb in from the beach, and also to check my remaining fuel and miles left until empty. The Apple Watch Remote app had recently been given the capability to lock and unlock, also. Just came back from some errands and found that remote start has been added to the watch functions. It even has Beep and Flash for locating the Defender in a parking lot without even taking your keys out of your pocket. Gets better every day. Not familiar with android devices, but I would imagine the same functions are accessible on that operating system.

the latest Remote app on Android does do remote start, climate and Beep & Flash.

Unfortunately, OS Wear (i.e., Pixel watch, Samsung Galaxy watch) has no JLR app that I know of.

Back in August my key was giving me issues and I had to solely rely on my Apple watch to lock/unlock and it was very reliable even in parking garages with one bar of cell service. That great they added remote start and I believe they will also add remote climate start as well. For me there is no reason to buy the activity band now that I can rely on the watch.

Just an update to your post. The remote start does in fact activate the climate control as well. Whatever was last set on the Remote app on your phone will be enacted during your remote start from your Apple Watch. However, as you can see, the temps are indicated in Celsius even though all my settings on the phone app are Fahrenheit. I’ll be delving into that next.

Thanks @WTFChuck This was defiantly one update I was looking forward on the watch app. Can't wait to use it on my hike in a few days.

With the watch app, do you still need a key fob present to start/drive the car or can you leave it at home and just have your watch?

Also, the temperature can be adjusted from what it was set at previously by going to the temp field and turning up or down the temp. That said, like WTFChuck mentioned, you have to learn Celcius for now at least. I couldn't learn it in 3rd grade, not gonna happen now either. I looked on my Apple Watch "Remote" app and didnt see a way to change the degrees C to F...

Update: So, I looked into the differences in the units: Celsius v. Fahrenheit and km v. miles. On my iPhone in the REMOTE app, under settings/preferences/units Fahrenheit/miles was already indicated, but as you can see in the screenshot, my Apple Watch showed just the opposite. I went to MyAccount>Preferences>Units and where it said Fahrenheit, I selected Celsius, then back to Fahrenheit. In Distance, even though Miles was already selected I clicked on km, then back to Miles. Backed out of the app and when I checked the Remote app on my watch, my Units were saved as per my selection. Hope it works for you.

Glad I saw this. I have been waiting for them to add the start feature to the watch. Thought ithe watch app was useless honestly and never used the it because it was limited. I start mine all the time when leaving in the morning and when coming home from work in the evening with my phone. Love having it warmed up or cooled depending on the day. I will use the watch now. Unfortunately I think we are still needing the key but I am hopeful that will end soon. Other manufacturers have that sorted so come on JLR. 😄
