Change the oil according to the JLR engineers' recommendations is completely fine.

I always follow manufacturers recommended maintenance intervals and all of my European cars never displayed any engine issues and they all ran over 200k miles.

Historically, those who have followed JLR’s intervals on their modern engines are the ones who have had loads of problems. On the 5.0 V8 and 3.0 supercharged V6 timing chains went bad, and these problems are avoided with 5000-7500 oil change intervals. On the 2.0 Ingenium diesel (the first one to have the 21k interval) is notorious for having issues with the VVT as well as turbo failures, both of which are proven to be avoided by doing frequent oil changes. This can be applied to the gasoline I4 and I6 Ingenium engines, as they all share the same basic design. 10k intervals on these engines are proven to have avoided these issues, too.

I’ve change my oil on my Audi every 7500-10k, and it’s never been a problem. Sometimes I top off the oil between intervals, but that’s normal on VAG engines. I change the oil on my Porsche once a year, as I only drive that less than 7000 miles a year.

All it takes is a basic search on this forum and the Jaguar forums. It’s Christmas and I don’t have the time to give you proof. Just ask anyone on this forum and they’ll agree. The general consensus is that frequent oil changes are the key to timing chain longevity on the AJ133/AJ126. And on the AJ200/AJ200D/AJ300/AJ300D, those who do 10k or less haven’t had VVT issues, and turbo failures are a lot less common.
