A brush-less automatic car wash is the only kind to use. And even they can be a bit harsh.

Where I live with water restrictions, unless you hold well water rights like I do, auto is your only option. We have several touchless and no issues outside of not everything comes off.

I use the touchless to get mag chloride off 1-2x a month then hand wash at home 1-2x month when we get above freezing.

The touchless I use are pretty decent and car goes in park.

Also I go for a complete winter cleanup detail just after our suspected last snow usually end of May.

I wanted to only hand wash it initially but living in Michigan, you need to wash all the salt and grime. 1 year and half later soft cloth wash is fine. I have been using it in my 2015i black Escalade platinum without any problems nor swirl marks. Much recommended. Don't y'all worry.

The biggest problem I have with the wash process right now is frankly putting into neutral reliably. I know it sounds silly but it's very easy to go from drive all the way into reverse accidentally. As the vehicle ages this is becoming even more of an issue for me. It seems you need to press the stick upward slightly and as soon as that amber indicator goes out as it switches out of drive up towards neutral you need to release it immediately or it goes into reverse, then you have a big problem because then you need to go back down to drive and try to do the whole thing all over again. Meantime the wash is trying to start moving the vehicle and you're releasing the parking brake etc. There's very little room for error here, at least with my Defender that's the case. I'm probably in the minority but the rotary dial or a button for N would be a good thing in my book.

any recent software updates? I just pressed the button and toggled to drive and it went to Drive without pressing the brakes!

Black cars show the swirls worse as we all know. I have been running my vehicles through automatic car washes with brushes for years with no trouble at all. This includes black cars which would show the swirls much better. We are now running our 19' Range Rover through them with zero problems

Anyway first time through, it couldn't read the windshield sticker to let me through the gate and that's because I have the heated windshield. So they let me through the gate manually and I went through the actual wash with no issues, just put it in neutral when they give the signal as usual and it's pulled along. At the exit tap the brake put it in drive, drive off.

Second time through they gave me a chip tag to hang over the rear view mirror to get through the gate, they've had to do this with some ranges they see, presumably with the heated windshield too, we're up north so it would be common on JLR vehicles up here Car Wash Near Me, - Mussafah, Abu Dhabi. Second time however there were beeps and what not flashing red on the camera midway through the wash, it 'sees' the soft fabric draped down in front of it etc as a hazard but just beeps... I got to the exit, put it in drive and it stayed in neutral, coasted out so something it didn't like there. Turned it off and back on, put it in drive it was fine, drove off.

Suspected the issue was the low speed collision, parking warning stuff, I toggled that one feature off for the third run through. Everything went smoothly third time. So I think that should do it. If I have any further issues I'll report back but after the last run I feel pretty confident it's all set. Worst case scenario there are touch-less washes around here, they're about $12-15 per wash so that would add up fast. I typically get my cars washed at least twice per week with the subscription in the summer and probably 3 to 4 times per week in the winter because it's covered in road salt.
I just purchased a 2023 GV80 I had the ceramic protection applied at the dealer. Living in an apartment and Vehicle needs to be washed . Is it ok to run thru a car wash?
