I happened upon this product and given that so much of the new defender is a rehash of the LR4, I thought I'd order one up and see if it fits.

I just heard back from the CEO of Cascadia and he tells me that no, unfortunately the solar panel for the LR3/4 will not work, but they're in development of a specific panel for the defender which he hopes to have in production by July/August.....so stay tuned.

 

I'm surprised you think the new defender is a rehash of the LR4. Given that the LR4 is body on frame and the defender is unibody, I think you would be hard pressed to find much if anything compatible.

 

You're right, I was confusing the LR4 for the Disco 4. I dont have a ton of recent LR model development experience...though based on the photo it's not hard to imagine that it would fit.

I took the leap on one of those panels for an LR3 and I have to say it's been pretty awesome. Used it with an independent second battery for a week trip and it kept the cooler and a bunch of other items powered up nicely.

I would highly recommend it. Mine even developed a bit of a defect and they are replacing it, so I think it's great company that makes it too.
