Check Engine Light question
The light ended up coming back on and didn't go off in the month and a half or so. I took it to a different dealer who's service department in general seems to actually have the ability to follow up with things so that's nice.
While waiting for the service appointment, I had 2 incidents where the car wouldn't start while having my foot on the break and pressing the start button. I reported that to the dealership as well. They said the engine light was for vapor leak, but then cleared the code and didn't see any evidence of faulty sensors and the tried to trigger it several times, but it wouldn't come back. They also noted to make sure you click the gas cap twice when you put it on. Seems very strange. but okay.
They also replaced the starter motor. I've had it back about a month now and all seems well. No recurring lights.

Thank you for the replies all. The thing I forgot to mention about the vehicle not starting is that everything powered up fine like normal, radio, dash, etc. There was just no activity on the engine starting. I tried several times but to no avail. However, when I got out of the car, locked it, then unlocked it again and got back in it started fine. I guess that is the modern car equivalent of turning turning the computer off and turning it back on to solve 99% of problems.
