I can think of a few recent cars with factory white-roof option: MINIs, Ford Flex, FJ Cruiser. Are there others (not counting commercial vehicles)?
In each of these cars (and the new Defender) the white roof helped establish the retro-ness of the vehicle.

I have Pangea green, white roof, white steel wheels. Very classic!
I think that's what it comes down to. Body color/black roofs are much more modern, contemporary cool (if you like it), flashy/mallcrawler (if you don't like it).
White roofs are very classic, traditional (if you like it), retro/poseur (if you don't like it).
We all have opinions...do you see your defender as modern and contemporary cool, or classic and traditional?

I voted for Eiger/Black because it matches (more or less) my MINI.
As regards the Defender I am in the traditionalist camp, as my avatar might indicate. I have a P300 110 on order, Tasmin w/ Fuji Roof, steelies, and classic mudflaps. Its ok, you can call me "gramps".
