Dc-DC convertor - recall (out of warranty)
2023 P400 @ 60 K miles
No warning prior to failure, warning illuminated at morning startup. I parked it immediately upon getting a charging fault warning on the dash and had it towed to the dealer. The good news is that JLR officially announced a recall two weeks ago. My dealer said all costs, including a new starter battery, should be covered. Loaner provided. I rolled the dice taking it into the dealer as I would have been on the hook for the costs of diagnosics, firmware update, etc...likely $500 +/-, plus the costs of required repairs if it had turned out not to be the DC-DC convertor. (belt, generator, starter battery, other). The (potentially) bad news, will JLR approve the installation of the same convertor until such time as JLR has developed a more permanent repair; is the part readily available; or will my Defender sit idle for an extended period...? I will update moving forward...
