The dealer I bought my LR from called today, they are taking care replacing it with OEM glass.
‘They asked me to take it to the local LR dealer that they would take care of it through there service department.
They did say they thought glass was on national back order. That it might take a bit to get it replaced.

Update: Local dealer replaced my windshield yesterday with new OEM windshield. All went well.
The Florida Dealer I bought my 90 from paid for everything. All went to plan, very happy with how everything went, free loaner car, car got washed too, the works.

owned my Defender for 2 months when first windshield had small impact and needed replaced. Due to back order , used an aftermarket one and finally replaced with OEM 2 month after that. 5 days after install noticed another crack ( with a pinpoint area of impact ) in the same area as first crack. I’m just sick , now searching for my 4 th windshield in 5 months! High deductible with insurance and they will not cover this time. So out of pocket it is!! Pilkington should figure out if they have an issue or LR should check out my framing to see if there is something with the placement due to both cracks being in same area. Just very odd. But neither companies will respond or return my calls. Nothing but a run around

Vehicles with upright windshields are more prone to cracking because of the angle, but it is odd that it keeps happening to you in the exact same spot.

My old 2017 Discovery went through windshields like crazy. I'm on my second windshield in my Defender and this one has lasted over three years. Knock on wood this one will keep lasting me a while.

I just got a 2022 SE back in July. We noticed in September that the windshield was leaking from the top edge - right behind the rear view mirror. The dealership confirmed it and replaced it under warranty within a week. Thankfully they had a new OEM solar attenuating windshield already in stock.

The service manager tried to tell me that they don't have any problems with the Defender windshields. Discovery windshields he said were a problem, but not the Defender. This thread seems to indicate otherwise.

Different problem. On the Discovery the glue that bonded the screen to the frame detached and many of them leaked water into the car. Massive number of warranty replacements on them (we had ours done on the Discovery)

On the defender the issue seems to be stone chips causing cracking of the screen due to angle of the screen / thickness and strength of the glass. Dealer will see less of that as most people with a cracked screen go to the glass shop. If there is just water ingress in the car they go to the dealer

That was a problem on mine, but water never actually got into the cabin, it just went down the A-pillars, through the firewall and drained out the bottom. Didn't know mine leaked until I got a crack and the glass tech told me there wasn't any glue on the sides of the windshield. Put a new one on, glued it completely and three weeks later it cracked again. Went through another six or so windshields throughout my ownership of that thing. All covered by my insurance.

@dj200 - I must have been asleep on this thread. What "sensor calibration" is needed on a windshield? Anyone know what I'm missing here so I can go back to sleep? Thanks.
