The washers activate at startup I think and or when the main windscreen washers are activated. Regardless, mine were also leaking without any prompting of the main windscreen washer and only stopped leaking when the reservoir was 100% empty. I understand the liquid is sent to the nozzle under pressure so if the seal is even slightly compromised it leaks.

I’d recommend getting a call into your service asap. I don’t trust what that liquid could do with extended exposure to the paint. Like I said, took 8 weeks for the parts to be delivered!

good luck.

Just picked up a 2024 Defender and the left side headlamp jet is leaking...and making me angry.

I'm going to try the following (in order):
1. Run the washers continuously (hoping there is an obstruction or something else that self resolves)
2. empty the washer fluid tank

Anyone know how to do #2? I popped the hood and the only idea I came up with is sticking a small tube down the chute and siphoning it out...surely there's a better way (please).

Well, good luck and let us know if you discover a secret fix. I asked my dealer and they said, essentially, that every Defender they've delivered since MY2020 had this problem, and that there might be recall/fix coming but no promises.

Personally, it used to bug the **** out of me, but not anymore. I just think of it as my Defender weeping because it misses me when we are apart. Welcome to the club.

Hi everyone, there is a technical bulletin on leakage from headlight washers, the procedure involves a diagnosis with Pathfinder Jlr, however replacement of the part is recommended (sorry for the text in Italian, but I took a photo from my Topix)
