I buy a vehicle to drive IT, not the other way around. My routine every time I start my Defender is to disable Emergency Braking and Emergency Lane Keeping, then turn off Auto Start. This involves something like 9 taps on the screen, which must be repeated after every shutdown. If JLR is listening, in a future Software Update, could you provide the ability to create Shortcuts, like my iPhone, to combine all these tasks into one activation of a Shortcut?
Since this thread has some action, anyone know if I can disable (permanently) lane assist? During this current Winter there's been 5-6 times it has tried to correct me when there's no correction need. Pretty jarring when you are trying to make an exit ramp and it straightens out the vehicle. I see you can disable it in the options menu but it comes back when you turn it off/on.
doesn't it just stay off if you've not clicked the button on the steering wheel? mine isn't lit up as i clicked it off a long time ago. i've not liked lane assist in any vehicle i've owned. it always ends up doing weird things i don't want.
I noticed something similar on a recent trip thru the mountains. Weather turned nasty / sleet / icing / rain. Minesaid "Take control cruise cancelled" and popped this rather Euro looking warning triangle in the HUD.
Came down off the mountain pass, clear weather, all messages cleared themselves.
I had that happen to me in a crazy rain storm west of Midland. It was hammering and just as I passed a semi everything alarmed and shut down. Scared the "snot" out of me. Worse time to deal with it. I passed the semi and the wind / rain storm coming off of it subsided and things were better. I had to check the seat, though.
FYI - I would check this thread here that I started for this same problem. I was missing a clip on the harness that controls these safety features and it would apparently get loose when hitting bumps etc. After the dealer ordered the clip and added it I haven't seen it again in daily driving. Only happened once since then and that was under big articulation.
Have not seen this ever when in bad weather but I guess that could cause it. I would still double-check that you have this clip as it seems many people are missing them and that has caused this problem.
