Extended warranty
We’re your prior LR’s Defenders? If not, perhaps the Defender, in its 5th year of manufacturing is just more reliable. I did a lot of research about the reliability of what matters. Initially, the Defender had lots of mostly software caused or related problems. It’s important to point out that every other manufacturer has the same or similar software and infotainment problems and glitches. LR has addressed most of them over the years.
Mechanically, it seems the Defender is very reliable in contrast with all the fire recalls and engine failures with new Toyota’s. I’m not sure I’d pay for an extended warranty at this time. I could change my mind if the data changes over the next couple of years.
It’s good that the warranty you shared is JLR administered warranty. None of the 20 or so dealers I called would initially say or acknowledge that their “warranty” wasn’t JLR. They were all through their dealership group. Pure profit. I would only buy manufacturer official warranty, no dealer/dealer group warranty that is null and void if the dealer group has financial issues or goes out of business.

JLR doesn't sell one to new vehicle owners. The only way to get a true JLR extended warranty is to by a CPO car. They extend the original warranty by 1 year and mileage out to 100k. So if you bought a CPO car put into service in 2022, instead of expiring in 2026/50k miles, it would expire in 2027/100k miles.
I suspect they want people who want the full JLR warranty to trade the car and buy a new one, before the warranty expires. I traded my 21 for a 23 @ 43k miles. Took some big trips, only had this car since September and it already has 18k miles on it. When I took it in for service I saw a 23 Range Rover Sport CPO with 8k miles on it. I really like the look of it

42K on my P300 S 4 cylinder 2023 (long commute) and pondering an extended warranty vs. trading in to stay under warranty. The only issue I’ve had other than the usual software issues which seem to be fixed is they had to replace my coolant container since the sensor was erroneously reporting low coolant but it took a few trips to the dealer before they relented. Love the vehicle have to say.
Just quoted $8321 for a 7yr / 100k JLR warranty w $250 deductible for 2024 Defender. Seems quite high compared to what everyone else here is posting, is this negotiable at other dealers? I am located in SoCal. Dealer also said if I wait till 2025 price goes up $1k?

You can get that 7 year/100k warranty for under $5k. Shop around and let dealers compete for your business.
The only official in-house Land Rover extended warranty can only be purchased on CPO vehicles. They do sell a branded LR warranty through Safe Guard, but its not a full bumper-to-bumper warranty like the original factory warranty or the CPO warranty. My dealer doesn't even offer it to customers because it is expensive and it doesn't have the best coverage. My dealer sells an ASC extended warranty. I'm friends with the finance manager at my JLR dealer and he gave me a great price on the ASC extended warranty, which has better coverage than the JLR-branded Safe Guard warranty. All air suspension components are covered, as well as interior/exterior/powertrain electronics. There is no deductible and all labor is covered. I was quoted $3600 for a five-year, 100k mile extended warranty, and if I wanted to do an eight-year 120k warranty, it was only $300 more. I'm going to buy it, as usually they charge around $5k. At $3600, if I have another DRL go out, then it paid for itself.
