I was a reservation holder until I decided to cancel mine in March and order a Defender 110. As of today I know that my Grenadier would price out at $86,345, and that didn't include sales tax and freight, which I estimate would be another $5300. So well over $90K all-in. The 110 I have coming to me in August, which I optioned and configured comparably to the Grenadier, came up to $66K, and that did include freight and sales tax.
Even if the cost of the Grenadier hadn't proven out of my budget, I was worried about getting version 1.0 of a vehicle from a company that is also brand new, and not having any local dealer support. Plus I'm an old Land Rover guy, so it's feeling like getting back to my roots by going with a Defender.
Agree completely- actually had and still have Defenders, RR etc., but thought the Grenadier might be interesting as well. Here in Austria Grenadier mor expensive tha Defender, not well equipped, actually full of claims - see forum - make the whole story short: Cancelled Grenadier and ordered new Defender 110 2 weeks ago - happy!
[QUOTE=GavinC;865333]Pricing is quite a bit higher than I had anticipated based on Ineos' pre-release info.
I had built a Trialmaster with winch, sliders, tow setup and roof rack. Reserved in Feb 2022.
91k+ before on road costs and taxes. Current interest rates are not favorable either.

The first time I see one of these $92K aborted-frog kit cars with the orange painted undercarriage, I'm going to laugh, I just know it.
L A N D R O - V E R (CLAP) ! L A N D R O - V E R (CLAP)!

Haha. Love it.
You've got me pegged. I'm somewhat lacking in the taste department. Or so I'm told.
I did delete my blue body, contrast roof and red ladder-frame to save some $$. Still too spendy.
I'm enjoying my Defender too much in any event. The Grenadier is just not the rugged easy to mod cheaper platform I thought it might become. Eg: Integrated winch is still the guts of $5000. I had figured with the big fat bumper and prewiring it would be more in range with most other vehicles. No snorkel and only 800mm wading depth. That's not good enough. Smaller 31.5" tires on the 17" steelies is sad. The central compass and altimeter in the air-vent also makes my eyes bleed.
The more I see of the plastic interior in owners pics the less I'm enamored by it. I guess, the refined interior of my current ride has me spoiled.
I'm not shopping the Grenadier (although I'm glad it exists and saw a couple in the UK last week that looked great). But I went through pricing on their web site
But equipping more or less like for like to my Defender came up with $86k for the Grenadier compared to $65k for my P300 defender. It's nice that Land Rover is the lower cost option sometimes
I spent some time absorbing the prices and I think it is a fair deal. I believe the difference from many other people, is I got an opportunity to drive it and spend some time in it and under it. The value is there and is not represented in the pictures. As a side it is so funny seeing the other side on the Ineos Forum where there is a subset of people who call the L663 all sorts of name. There is diffidently a line in the sand between those that drive the Grenadier and those that drive the L663.
Unlike @GavinC tarted up version, I was able to build one out similar to my 2020 Defender. It comes in at 80.5k with the locking diffs, the rock sliders which are warranty for 5 years/60k miles, safari windows and magic mushroom color. If I was to rebuild my Defender it would come in at 71k at todays prices. If I added the sunroof to compare to the Safari windows, it gets me to 73k. So I am paying 7k more for KO2, Recaro Seats. Bembro Brakes, steel bumpers, fitted to take a winch, the over head Aux panel, and rock sliders. If I add the new tires I added right away because the GY sucked, that puts my price at 75k. Things get a lot more interesting when you look at the build quality.
There is early conversation with a US winch company is already looking to make a winch to fit the Grenadier for a much lower price.
I think a lot of people are butt hurt about the price because once you add all the accessories and all the finishes like the saddle leather steering wheel it gets more expensive real quick.
@nashvegas if I pull the trigger, you will be the first invited over to clap but also to take it for a spin.
Not butt hurt here, and I agree that the value is there. Ineos themselves said a long time ago they were targeting the Land Cruiser price range, which the last time those were available in the US was $92K. I kept my reservation for a year and a half, and decided to drop out only in March '23 because I didn't like not having a local dealer option.

I probably could have trimmed things a bit more. Deleting the winch would have shaved off a chunk.
Is steel bumper the standard on the US trim? I guess I haven't dug as deep as I should have into the build.
In my case it was probably silly to put a deposit down on one. I've never been much of a car-guy. I got the Defender to open up more terrain for us to explore. It has done that in spades. Grenadier is a solution to a problem I no longer have. The other half hates it. No persuading her otherwise. I've learned to pick my battles. This is one I lack the drive to win.
I do find the tribal ideology folks take when discussing motor vehicles quite funny. Few folks get as passionate about which brand of vacuum cleaner or lawn mower. Stick it in a driveway and folks seem to equate criticism of it with a punch in the face to their first-born.
The pro-Grenadier folks mocking the Defender are usually UK bound and consequently starved for any proper off-road opportunities and tracks. Few will or would ever challenge the off-road chops of either platform. Already shopping for their PPF, pod-lights and spoilers. I find the whole thing amusing.
Value is subjective. No doubt many look at my Defender as a waste of cash. I don't view it or the Grenadier as such.
But at this non-utilitarian price point, with these small wheels, with this wading depth and no snorkel I just can't see it tapping into the off-road market in any appreciable way.
I suppose one could argue: Neither has the Defender.
Grenadier: Not as stylish as an old-Defender, not as comfy as a new, not as cheap to mod as a Jeep or a Taco. I'm just not sure where it will fit.
