Default I thought the 2022 would work with my trailer

I am having problems getting the trailer lights to work on my new to me 2022 Defender 110. At least with my LR3's and 4's I got blinking lights. with this thing? Nothing. I set up the trailer info in the PIVI and when it says to connect the trailer, I do, but the screen does not change.

Any Ideas?

Jeff

I've never had to set anything up in PIVI. I just plug my wiring harness in and it works fine. After decades of trailering and Land Rovering, I can say it's always a bad ground. Is there crud in whichever socket you're plugging into? Is there corrosion on the pins/terminals? I think if you go over all these little connection points with sandpaper and make sure you have bare metal meeting bare metal you should have success.

Does your trailer have a 4-pin or 7-pin connector?

My trailer has a 4-pin and it works, but sometimes you might need to use a 7-pin to 4-pin adapter for everything to work.

you’ll know the lights are working when the trailer icon flashes with the turn signals.

Guys, I am not new to Land Rovers, or pulling trailers with them. I have pulled this trailer with D1's D2's and 3 of our 4 LR3's, and the brake lights and turn signals have always worked. Now, when I connect this new to me 2022 Defender..... Nothing no lights at all.
The trailer has a 7 pin connector. I just hooked it up to my LR3 to move it out of the weeds and it worked fine (except for the blinking part).

I will now check to see if there is power at the defenders connectors. If not, I call the dealer as there is a 100 day warranty.

Also know that once you plug anything into the connector, it disables the blind spot warning system on the outside mirrors. (I have the 1UP rear taillight on my 1UP bike rack)

It sounds like you've isolated the issue to the truck side since everything (I think) seems to work when you plug it into a different vehicle.

If NOTHING is working when you plug into the Defender then its most likely the common ground. Sometimes on my 7-spade connector on my M1102 trailer, I have to wiggle the connector around to make sure its fully seated and making contact. Spraying WD40 on both the socket contacts and the plug helps too, When in doubt you could always get a multimeter out and start probing each of the contacts.

Another nice thing to have is a trailer connector plug that has the test lights directly on the plug itself, it helps identify whether the problem is with the truck or the trailer pretty quick.
