Yes. It is a bulletin from the factory acknowledging they screwed up when installing/designing/etc something in the car and with instructions to the dealer on how to fix it. Yes, it is a gratis fix, much as a recall. The dealers should have it and identify the tsb when you explain the issue you are having. In my experience, however, most do not even know about it. This forum is the best source for them if you do not have special access to Topix.

I have been following this thread for a while, as mine rarely worked...if ever...from the driver's side of the vehicle. I presented the TSB I found on this thread (thanks!) to the dealership. My service advisor informed me that the TSB has been updated to a new harness, not an extension as outlined earlier in this thread. Seems like that has been highlighted, but wanted to give you early feedback since the update.

I have noticed modest improvement. There is a lag, but seems to be responding better. Leads me to think it's just a slow awareness of the proximity of the FOB and not lack of awareness, but purely speculation. Either way, figured I'd post a quick reply to let the forum know it does appear to improve performance, even if just moderately.

l am going to throw a curve ball in and say, turn off your keyless entry!

That way, thieves can't grab the code from your key fob and steal your vehicle, like they do with Range Rovers and Discoverys here in the U.K.

I know it is a pain, but if I were you I would go back to the dealer that performed the TSB and complain. My dealer applied on my truck and (many months later) it is still flawless. You are correct. It is a new unit/harness/module that they install on the US driver's side (as opposed to the original that comes on the US passenger side). The only thing I have to do sometimes is to press hard (and hold for maybe one second) on the little square in the door handle. Light and quick touches not always do the trick.

Now if someone can tell me why my key fob is spotty but my activity key works flawlessly, that would be great…. At this point, I count this as one of the “quirks and features” of owning a Land Rover product!

*Purely speculation* I'm assuming the Activity Key emits a stronger signal, but I'll await and follow for anyone else to chime in with actual data. Ha.
