rear doors only. i refer to it as a cross beam but it’s more a little support piece that limits the depth of the new speaker

in most cases rear speakers are only used for rear fill. my audio settup had a 150 watts to each rear speaker so i wanted something nice back there. most of my picks didn’t fit.

one other important note. if you are adding any subs and using the oem source running through the oem dsp you will have an amplified engine noise coming through. more powered subs will make that engine sound much more noticeable. all defenders have this programmed into the dsp and not something that you can disconnect.

my system has various sources and a digital input to my aftermarket dsp which bypasses the oem dsp. if i use carplay or sirius which is an oem source i hear the fake engine noise coming from my subs

only way to get rid of it is to code it out. Lots of guys are adding hidden features with coding. those that are providing that service have the tools and ability to code out.

i am planning to code mine out but closest installer is a couple hundred miles away.

not a huge deal as i have separate digital sources but will get it done eventually

Our X5 had that fake engine noise coming through the sound system. Thankfully BMW included settings for it (loud, quiet & off) in the iDrive menu. It also had variable settings for the real exhaust note which sounded way better with the V8.

Didn’t get to read the ten pages but wanted to post an observation that probably has been covered. Like the OP we could never get the sound system right in our 2022 X-Dynamic. I could get it adjusted where it would sound good loud but if you turned it down it was terrible. I could also do the reveres.

We recently traded the 90 in on a 110X and the two systems are not similar at all. The system in the X sounds really good at all levels to me. I have owned a lot of high end cars with high end systems and it is certainly on par with HK. BandO had an edge in my X5M but not by a lot at normal to high levels. I think the system in the X is higher wattage and a 3D system or something. Didn’t read the fine print.

I finished replacing all the door speakers with upgraded factory available speakers from the JLR lineup and adding a powered subwoofer in the cubby below the rear cargo floor. The door speakers are from a Jaguar XJ with premium sound (used off Ebay), they are similar to the Defender woofers in motor structure but the cones are not paper. Side by side comparison while installing (quickly switching back and fourth between speakers while installing) I was able to hear a distinct difference in the two. The tweeters are titanium dome as opposed to aluminum and are a bit brighter on the highs. The box in the rear houses two down firing 10" shallow mount dual 4 ohm voice coil Skar Audio woofers, it is bracketed and suspended over the MHEV electronics, bolted down to what would be the third row seating mounting. I tapped the factory subwoofer signal at the amp (leaving the factory sub in place), and feed it into a line level converter with bass restoration circuitry so that the factory roll off can be added back as needed. Subs are powered by a Skar Audio 800w mono-block class D amp. Power for the system was tapped from the 12V main lead that runs from the 48V - 12V converter to the factory battery. The system has a volume/gain **** that I have mounted within reach at the base of the drivers seat. With a bit of fiddling with settings and gain I was able to get the additional bass to blend seamlessly with the rest of the system. Very happy with the end result. I'm not calling BS Ehloo but I have not experience any engine noise being pumped into the subs. Only downside so far is I have to find a new home for my jack...

i can definitely confirm atleast only Meridian Surround and a previous Defender with same trim had issues with the engine noise.

what stock audio do you have?
