Thank you very much for your perspective. Unfortunately I'm currently in a grand cherokee with an absolutely awesome stereo. I'm just going to not listen to it for the next 2 months until my defender arrives! Maybe I'll lose my basis for comparison.

I believe this means I will get a 400W amp instead of 700W, and 10 speakers instead of 14. Kind of a bummer. i like my music but admittedly listen to more podcasts these days than anything else. I hope the base system at least sounds "above average" to "very good" to most people's ears.

I seem to have everything else including the 11" screen, clear sight, interactive driver display, HUD.

I can't tell from the build sheet if I will have all the usb ports and whatnot but I'm expecting to get blanks. Hope to see the car by January end.
not the end of the world, but annoying, especially for an X

For my Morning Lynn lads, she's now entering the Chesapeake Bay and just east of Norfolk at the moment. Anyone wishing to track her should be able to do so via the free tracker on Vesselfinder.com if you don't have a paid account. It's a leisurely ride up America's largest estuary from here. Almost there!

All 2023 RR models, including top of the line 160k LWB Autobiography are getting base sound systems, no exceptions. Everyone at the RR forum (all 6 of them) is pissed.

Sadly, this puts here a full two days late- but at least close to American soil!

All 6 they should be pissed.
My discussion with the dealer was -- these high spec Defenders / RR's will differ than earlier versions since Meridian Surround was a standard on these upper level models. When you go to resell, the buyer may question why these differ from other X and V8 models sold.

I had a 110 X built on November 25th as well. Waiting to hear back from the dealer but if the surround is removed this may be the point where I just walk away. I convinced myself the sunglass holder, soft close doors, and USBs were at least tolerable since I could add them later (except soft close), but there is no way to add the surround back. For a 100k+ vehicle, this is absolutely insane. I don't see the issues being resolved anytime soon, so I may just go ahead and build a cheaper model and get back in line.

I would agree with that line in the sand.

I've had my 110 X for a month now and the Meridian Surround is awesome and I'd call it a must if you're paying the X-trim price. I don't have my USBs (yet - will be added later through a dealer campaign) but haven't missed them yet, the soft-close tailgate can be retrofitted via Vulkan's kit, although I doubt I will as the door closes and locks with very low force. I put my sunglasses on the little dash cubby to the left the wheel. Some others on the forums were having their sunglass holders falling open anyway lol

2023.5 V8 - confirming no sunglasses, soft close, or rear USB. I do have Meridian Surround - build date is 8/23/22

Curious do you have it in writing from the dealer that the USBs will be retrofitted? I wasn’t aware that they were committing to add at a later date but if happening universally, a positive development!
