I would love it if you're right. It would make the waiting game more tolerable. Specifically, I would love if they enclosed the front headlamps with a glass enclosure flush with the bumper and hood so dirt and muck don't get into that compartment, and make it more aerodynamic.

Default Dealer Being Truthful?

I'm hoping for your guys' expertise on this one. I've been working with a salesperson at the dealership in Akron, Ohio. She's been really helpful and I'm grateful she helped me sort out the order process. After configuring a build with her in early January 2022, she reached out in February 2022 and told me my order was confirmed/allocated, with a Last Amendable date in "early April," build in June, and delivery in August 2022. In March of 2022, I asked her for an update after making a minor wheel change, and after confirming, she sent over a full PDF of my order from the Vista ordering system (Screenshot #1 below). It listed "Holding Pool" for Status, so I was concerned since she mentioned the order was confirmed in February. When I asked about this, she told me: "Right now they are having a slight issue with our builder slotting the interior leathers so all Defenders are slotting and un-slotting every hour or so. Distribution has advised this is not a delay in production, just our ordering system acting funny. We are still confirmed so they have promised there will be no delay."

When I made a final small change just the other week in early April 2022, I asked the salesperson over the phone if the ordering system was still listing "Holding Pool." She mentioned it was confirmed, not to worry, and she'd send a screenshot (Screenshot #2 below). My concern is that she only sent over a screenshot, and the arrows in blue highlight where it looks like she just typed onto a screenshot on her computer, trying to match the font size and line spacing, but it looks slightly distorted and unlike what other people have posted here (quoted above, "Order Confirmed" vs. "Confirmed"). It's also missing items like the Last Amendable Date field. After what I've been hearing about halting P400 build for the past month or two, I'm wary to trust a document like this that looks manipulated, maybe to keep me complacent. I also don't want to call her a liar or incorrectly confront her and have her just jump to the next person in line that's itching for a Defender.

Any recommendations? Maybe I'm being neurotic here, but wanting to see if anyone else thinks this may be odd. @The Insider , I appreciate all your insight on this forum and if it's not too much to ask is this the kind of thing you could plug in a see status of in your system if I sent you info privately? Thanks all!

@jpap16 - There are other members of Dealerships on the Forum. They are typically VERY helpful like @The Insider . They understand the current problems and handle the grief of the members well. One of them may also help out, but I doubt anyone will want to rat out a poor SA at a Dealership. I'd ask the Photoshop wizards like @_Allegedly their thoughts. I'm much more amateur than they are and would agree that it appears highly sketchy. That type of "image editing" is VERY easy. Unfortunately, you are over a barrel. Take it or get pissed. Many Dealers have been handling it very poorly because there are huge lines of other folks and they don't even want to bother with the courtesy of honesty. "I don't know" is a valid response.

wow. Yeah...I call BS on those screenshots. They looked like they were edited in Acrobat Pro...and not even well. The font is a different weight and size, which is not correct based on what I have seen. The dealership (or more likely the SA) is making stuff up...to cover their butt maybe?

FYI on my order sheet where it represents "Status" mine says "Order Confirmed", not just "Confirmed"

Has anyone been able to custom-build their own and pay about MSRP? Trying to build a 110 but most dealers around me (Socal) are charging at least $10-15k over MSRP. Also, are dealers no longer allowed to sell out-of-state?

This is dated, but about a year ago I was able to hit/pay my MSRP. They only had 1 BS add which was nitrogen to the tires and window tint for $350. I felt that was happy horse "stuff", but I also felt I was extorted and if $350 was the fee - I considered myself grateful!

I'm in the northeast and found two dealers who would take an order. One was no BS MSRP transaction and the other added about $1500 in bogus add-ons. This was back in Feb of this year.

I know for a fact one of the dealers (who added the $1500 in nonsense) will not sell out of state. I had to show proof of my address.

I'll check in with the dealership I ordered mine from.
