I think that the thing I’m most surprised by is the short run of ‘21s. We ordered February, ‘21 - build in early April, and delivered just before Memorial Day. We were able to get all options for X-dynamic HSE that I increasingly see disappearing from other people’s builds. The model year switched to ‘22 the week after ours was built. We were able to get at MSRP confirmed at order and the local dealer seems to be pretty good at honoring that for local purchases. I enjoy the HUD, especially for off-road - perhaps a bit gimmicky but cool nonetheless. The Clearsight takes time to get used to but it’s good to be able to see when cabin full. The larger screen wasn’t an option when we ordered and we really like the way the smaller screen integrates into the lines of the dash. So far, the Pivi Pro updates have all been useful and welcomed. I especially like being able to link to my Spotify account now. We had clear bra added to specific parts of the truck and did a ceramic coat prior to taking delivery. That has proven especially useful to be able to rinse easily. Gives a nice pearl effect to the paint as someone mentioned in an earlier thread. Still want to add Aussie spec bull bar and sliders but cannot decide on which ones yet. Exceptionally comfortable for long road trips to Colorado/Utah from Oklahoma City and ease of use off road for a newbie like myself is very helpful - especially the ability to see front wheel angles and to avoid boulders, etc. I sincerely hope people can get most of what they want in their builds and will be as happy as we’ve been with “Dolly”.
I recently took delivery of my Defender in late April. A few notes relevant to this thread and the 2023 Model Year.
Land Rover seems to have "fixed" the keyless entry button/fob issue. My Defender doesn't act up when I press the button.
My build had the Clearsight mirror and large screen on the order sheet, but my dealer was up-front with me at time of finalizing the order and told me that I likely wouldn't be receiving either. I went ahead and ordered anyway. At time of delivery it was mentioned that I may have gotten the larger screen had I ordered the "extended leather pack," for what it's worth.
I also didn't get the digital gauge cluster, but I don't care about that at all. I always think analog gauges age better over time anyway.
I did order the Off-Road pack, and I did receive it in full. The locking rear E-Diff is there and installed.
I, too, am missing the Click-and-Go adapters on the rear of the seats. I don't know how that relates to a potential "supply chain issue" for what is just plastic, but... I didn't receive those.
I did get a few extras, as far as I know. They're small things, but funnily enough I probably care about them more than the Clearsight mirror or the digital gauges. I received complimentary full rubber floor mat protection set and the LR branded rear tote with the handles/dividers. That tote has proven to be pretty great thus far. I keep a pair of knee-high muck boots in it, some straps, and a moving blanket that I use for interior protection when hauling anything back there.
Current MY22 owner here, liked it so much that I ordered a MY23 over the last few days - dealer had no timeframe on when i can expect it - understandably. Seeing there are rumors of a mid cycle refresh already on the defender - which is pretty wild.
@Drewes - You, sir, have a great SA or Dealer. That sounds like a group that kept you informed and didn't act like an airline saving money on peanuts to make customers happy. Sadly, that story is not as common as most would think.
