MY23 Heads Up Display (HUD) & Pivi Pro ECO Data Screen
Hi all,
Long time lurker, first time poster! Love this truck! After clocking about 16k in my MY23 110, however, I have noticed two things:
1. My HUD does not show navigation directions/commands if I have either the destination set in Pivi Pro's default Navigation app or Apple Car Play. I would find this very useful as sometimes at night I turn off the Pivi Pro screen entirely as to not disturb the wife while driving. Is anyone else with a HUD having this issue? I have even played around with disabling all the other HUD Content as maybe if there is a limited amount of space available in the HUD.
2. In the Eco Data screen (1st tab) the image of the Defender appears to be half image/half grey bar. Can anyone confirm if they are have this same issue?
Screenshots attached below. I know very nit picky but just curious, maybe these can be updated with a software patch? Thanks!
I'll take a stab at it given what I've learned since Sep '22 on my MY23 110x
1. HUD navigation display:
To the best of my knowledge I've NEVER been able to get Apple Car Play Mapping data to display in the HUD. I'll wager that's intentional by L.R. I DO SEE the native L.R. / Pivi Pro navigation appear both in the CENTER of my Dash and in HUD when the navigation prompts are running. I generally have voice ON so that might be worth checking to see if it affects things. I'd also check the layout pattern being displayed on the dash - perhaps that's related. I typically have the CENTRE of my digital dash show fuel data (miles to empty, etc), and that center display is replaced with mapping direction data prompts when active. E.G. does changing your digital dash display (presuming you have that and not analog) change the behavior of displaying navigation data in the HUD. I too have EVERY function for HUD ENABLED - found it interesting when driving off road.
2. Half Image Half grey bar for Defender graphic
I believe that's intentional and varies with the screen/data being displayed. Note - on your screen shot - there is data being displayed at the top of the grey bar that is overlaid ON TOP of the Defender graphic. I believe that's the nuance you're seeing
YES! I can confirm that my heads up display no longer shows turn-by-turn arrows, when I have a destination set in the pivi nav. I don't think it ever showed them when using apple's nav via CarPlay.
Now the HUD just shows me the name of a road when I need to make a turn, instead of an arrow. I am 10000% sure it used to show me a turn arrow, etc.
Here's what I now see (crappy pic below). It used to have an arrow. Which I liked because I could just keep looking out the windshield.
I played with all the settings last night driving and couldn't get them to reappear.
For the poll, my HUD has never shown NAV data from CarPlay as well. I think this is more an Apple thing than a LR thing. Mine is still perfectly happy to show directions entered in the built in NAV. Now so many tech questions are answered by watching the 'IT Crowd'. They showed many times, turning it on and off or a Pivi system reset seems to make things better. I have to honestly admit I had my HUD set up improperly at first for NAV. I would say that some menus option are not written as clearly as they could have been. Some options seem to make selected items go away, as they are incompatible together. This means that occasionally you need to go back and select, deselect and reselect items. Naturally, this is hard to see if anything you did works, since it only display the NAV directions as you approach a turn. So the checkin on it is a bit arduous, especially since you can only enter NAV destinations stationary. Just gotta love a world full of lawyers.
Hey - update. My heads up display / Pivi screen are once again showing the turn by turn directions / intersection arrows in both places.
I'm not sure if I lost it when my car self-upgraded to 3.3.0 a few months ago or when the maps were updated over the air, but ... sure enough, went into nav settings, the "toggle switch" for "display turn by turn arrows" (or whatever it is called) was toggled off.
Toggled it back on, and I now have the arrows back in my HUD.
Again, I didn't turn it off so something in an update etc did this.
Hi, Thanks for your post. I have the same thing happening to my HUD; navigation on my HUD only displays the street name of the next maneuver and no directional arrows. Can you go through the specific areas where you found the "display turn by turn arrows" option in the navigation settings? I can't find that option in my settings. Thank you
If CarPlay navigation instructions were to show up in the HUD / driver console, that should only be with Apple Maps, as I believe Google Maps (and probably Waze) do not support this functionality yet.
