Finally pulled the trigger on a newish 110 Defender – 2023 P400 with 16K miles – to replace my 2013 LR4. (Daily driver for past 10 yrs, now sitting at 160K mikes.) Curious to know if Auto Access Height setting, and having the vehicle lower and raise with every Park & Drive, is mechanically a positive, a negative, or a don’t-worry-about-it. (I did find a few discussions re this from 2021, but wondering if there are now any longer term POV’s?)
Not sure about the tinted front driver/passenger windows, would prefer 20” 5098 Satin Gray wheels vs the 20” 5094’s (would they really look that different???) and considering soft close tailgate retrofit…but for now just driving and getting settled in before tinkering.
I have a 2021 that I've had for nearly five years and have had auto access height enabled for most of the time, and never had an issue with it. It won't cause any premature wear, as it is designed with that in mind.
It shouldn't make any difference. If you don't want to enable it, you aren't missing out - the LR4 didn't have it. I wouldn't say it's a gimmick, but I can live without it.
No worries about keeping it in auto mode. Congrats on your purchase! I would personally stay with the black wheels you have as it matches the black roof, but the choice is yours. Great looking Defender. Enjoy and happy motoring.
I'd definitely get rid of the front tinted windows. I never use access height myself. As for the wheels, there are quite a few aftermarket wheels that are hubcentric and look better than any wheels that come on the Defender.
I'm 6'2" so I wouldn't use access height personally. My partner is 5'2" and she struggles to climb in even with access height. So we use access height all the time.
Access height - agreed it is not a concern. Furthermore, it has saved my bacon when parking in my company's underground garage, with its low ceiling height and hanging sprinkler/water pipes. It'll come in handy when you least expect it.
