Installed my voyager rack this weekend and super pleased with the look. It’s beautifully made, and just looks right on the Defender.

I used an electric impact wrench to remove the bolts and it worked perfectly. No spinning rivnuts. I read that is the best way to remove bolts where there is concern that loctite might be a problem.

I did notice that the mounting posts seem to be a bit taller than the ones in some other pictures and on the website. I need to call them and see if they’ve made posts of different heights for some reason. I wouldn’t mind it being a little lower if that’s a possibility.

Got the three piece fairing on the Voyager now and it gets rid of most noise. Now very acceptable at 80mph. I’ll get the fiberglass one piece if they are able to make those again, but this works fine for now.

thinking of the voyager ladder, but not sure I like the looks.

Can we see some pics of the fairing? I’m in need of one for sure. I put a light bar up there too and I’m getting a lot of noise

Sure. Here’s the full three piece fairing. I added some gorilla tape to close off the gaps since they looked like they’d whistle, but don’t know if that was needed. I view this as a stopgap until they are able to produce the fiberglass version, but it’s very effective at quieting the rack down. Still a bit of noise from the sides and rear bars on the rack, but nothing like before, and now perfectly acceptable. The fiberglass one will look a lot better. Not sure how you’d do this with a light bar though.

Yeah. It’s going to be tricky. I was essentially thinking about bending a sheet of aluminum to fit the profile of the roof and then frenching the roof bar light into it. I’m just wondering if it’s my light bar or it’s mount that’s causing all the reverb because the rack itself is pretty quiet without the bar on it.
ah well, add it to the list!

thanks for the photos!

About to pull the trigger on one of these, they look great.

How am I going to attach my:
1- Thule Motion XT XL with the clamps made for cross bars - will the power click cross bars work on the 1" rails?
2- Yakima Shower which has some a clam system also for cross bars, Do I just use the accessory mount plate on the side bars and bolt down instead of calmp?
3 - ARB Awning - Do I just use the accessory mount plate on the side bars?

You can find clamps that will fit 1” bars for practically anything. The Thule speedlink clamps work fine as well. There are lots of attachments made for 1” bar racks for Jeep’s etc. if you call Voyager, they also have a number of attachments for various things. Hard to see or tell what they are on their website.
