A service advisor at the dealership might be able to help you just dropping by.

It's wireless carplay. Just turn on WiFi and Bluetooth in your phone and sync together. It will show prompts in the screen as well as your phone. 2020 initially didn't have wireless carplay but was activated after a software update.

The key here -- you have to turn on wifi on your phone and your phone has to be connected to the Defender's wifi to connect to CarPlay, at least on mine. I have no idea what you do if you don't have wifi in your Defender, btw. Seems odd to me... but the wifi connection is required on mine to make wireless CarPlay work. It will not work over bluetooth only.

You don't have to have a purchased WiFi. It is just how it connects to your phone.

The OP is saying it doesn't even work in wired mode, so their problem is more systemic than the wireless connection. I don't remember if the usb-c port was required or not, if you haven't tried both usb-c and usb-a ports give that a shot. Another possibility is that it is disabled on your phone, or your phone doesn't support it. if none of that is the cause I think your only option is the dealer.

Did you get this sorted by any chance? I just bought a used MY2020 and am having the same problem - no android auto either by wireless or by cable! I've followed all youtube posts of how to get this to work and have tried different phones, but no life sign of android auto in the car

EDIT: My car was built for delivery in Finland, although I bought it in Sweden... I'm starting to suspect android auto is not activated for Land Rovers in Finland! Is there any way you can change region/country for the car?
